PEST INFORMATION
Bees Pest Control & Treatment
Like many modern pests, bees were introduced to Australia by early settlers with good intentions; they simply wished to increase their supply of honey. Naturally, a few escaped, and now they can be found throughout Australia.
The dangers of bees around the home
While bees certainly have their uses in the ecosystem, their stings can still be threatening to human health. Some bee stings are harmless, but others can be painful and even deadly – some 60 to 100 people die as a result of bee stings each year.
The biggest danger is when hives are built in and around homes; in these instances, there is a high chance that the home’s occupants will be stung.
Bees generally reside in cavities such as walls or attics and are most prolific in the summertime. Due to their desire to feed on sugary foods, they can also often be found in areas where trash and disposable waste containers are present. If there is increased bee activity around your home, there is a strong chance a nest has been built nearby.
Dealing with a bee infestation
When it comes to dealing with a bee infestation, the best method of control is to destroy the hive. However, under no circumstances should you attempt to destroy the hive by yourself, as bees defend their nest very aggressively and will attack in large numbers if threatened.
If you have a bee infestation in your home, KR Pest Control will skilfully and safely clear the hive and then clean up the area using disinfectants. KR Pest Control will also proof the area to ensure an infestation does not occur again in the future.
